The Role of Beer in Systems Administration

This is always a highly disputed area of discussion. There are those who feel that alcohol and hexadecimal don't mix. I personally recommend that one never attempt to hack the operating system kernel under the influence, unless you brought along a Designated System Restorer...an individual who can bring the system back to a working state before the users wake up in the morning.

On the other hand, a moderate amount of social lubricant can do wonders to bring together two admins from opposite poles of a religious argument (Sendmail vs. Anything Else, for example). On that note, we humbly offer some links to the web pages of other beer lovers in the metro D.C. area.

dc.sage has an informal gathering that we call SIG-beer. It is really a get-together for dc.sage'rs that happens to take place at The Brickskeller in Washington DC. Hope to see you at the next one.

The Washington, DC Metro Area Beer Guide includes lists of brewpubs, microbreweries, places to go in the D.C. Metro area, a calendar of events, information on homebrewing, etc. It doesn't look like its been updated recently, but that could be just an illusion.

The Brickskeller is something of a tradition for D.C. Metro beer lovers. Located in the Dupont Circle area of D.C., it is a five minute walk from the Metro station.
